Safety on board

Life jackets

The most important safety equipment on board. We help you choose the right jacket for each person and each type of navigation.

Foam life jackets

Permanent buoyancy, no cartridges to maintain. Ideal for water sports, kayaking, dinghy sailing and inshore boating. Available in 50N (buoyancy aid) and 100N (sheltered waters).

Inflatable life jackets

Light and comfortable to wear all day on board. Automatic (on contact with water) or manual inflation, in 150N (coastal and offshore) and 275N (open sea, extreme conditions or heavy clothing).

Children and babies

Jackets sized by weight, with a head-support collar and crotch strap so the child floats face up in the water.

Accessories and servicing

Re-arming kits (CO₂ cartridge and bobbin), lights and whistles, safety lines and harnesses. Inflatable life jackets should be serviced regularly as specified by the manufacturer.

Safety questions

Before buying or heading out to sea, answer these questions — or bring them to the shop and we'll answer them with you.

  • What area will I navigate in — sheltered waters, coastal or offshore?
  • How many people will be on board and what does each weigh (including children)?
  • Do I prefer a foam or an inflatable jacket? Automatic or manual?
  • Will I wear heavy foul-weather or work clothing that needs extra buoyancy?
  • Do I need an integrated harness and safety line?
  • When were the inflatable jackets last serviced, and is the cartridge in good condition?
  • Are the jackets approved (ISO 12402) and do they cover the boat's full capacity?
